Cynthia Perkins

Outreach and Recovery Assistance Specialist

Cynthia Perkins is originally from a small city in Pennsylvania.   After completing her high school studies, she joined the PA Army National Guard where she studied Missile Maintenance.  While serving in the National Guard, she  met her now former husband.  They share three adult children and two beautiful granddaughters.

In 2004, Cynthia came to Milwaukee under unfortunate circumstances. She worked at various local stores as a sales clerk, housekeeping associate and warehouse worker. However, she became entrenched in drug addiction, homelessness, prostitution and legal difficulties. During Cynthia's experience on the streets of Milwaukee, she came to know the Franciscan Peacemakers.

After the opportunity presented itself, Cynthia joined Clare Community in May of 2018. During her stay, she became a part of the Outreach Team due to her desire to encourage other women that change is possible. Cynthia also earned her Wisconsin Peer Support Specialist Certification and was pivotal to the opening of the Franciscan Peacemakers Hospitality Center.

Cynthia is now a Clare Community graduate with an Associates Degree from MATC in Human Services and is currently an undergraduate at Mt. Mary University in the Social Work program. Cynthia serves as Outreach and Recovery Assistance Specialist on the Franciscan Peacemakers team.
